The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has reminded all players that last month’s Lotto 6/49 prize has not yet been claimed.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has reminded all local players that the January Lotto 6/49 prize has not been claimed. The prize ticket, worth a sizeable CA$36,4, was purchased last month in Barrie. The OLG urged all players to double-check their tickets in case they had forgotten about these.
The OLG has also stated that for lottery prizes between CA$1,000 and CA$49,999, the players should submit their claims online or via mail. For awards over CA$50,000, winners are urged to contact the OLG contact centre on 1-800-387-0098 to discuss the prize claim options.
Time is Money
An OLG representative, Tony Bitonti, noted that the CA$36 million jackpot from January is still unclaimed. The spokesperson explained that the winner is yet to contact the agency to claim their hefty prize. In his words, this could be due to the winner first wishing to discuss the prize money with a financial advisor.
Bitonti added that very few winners forget to check their tickets and do not know they’ve won. After being drawn as a winner, players are given 52 weeks to claim the prize, although instant tickets have longer expiration dates. Bitonti urged everyone to check their tickets via the OLG app or local retailers.
The OLG noted that this is the fourth time in two years that a Barrie resident has won the grand prize from the lottery. Meanwhile, the latest Lotto 6/49 draw has remained with no winner, as no ticket matched the CA$8,8 million offer. Winning numbers for the draw were 1, 25, 26, 37, 40, 43, and the bonus number 3. A Quebec ticket holder has scooped up the guaranteed CA$1 million prize with ticket number 72479786-01.
Last month, the OLG confirmed that an Ontario local, Manoharan Ponnuthurai, won a mind-blowing CA$70 million Lotto Max jackpot. Upon retrieving the prize, the 54-year-old commented that he does not plan to retire yet despite his win.
