Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Welcomes New CFO
Gateway Casinos & Entertainment has ushered in the new year with the appointment of a new chief financial officer.
Canada’s gaming dynamo, Gateway Casinos & Entertainment, has announced the appointment of a new CFO. Queenie Wong took over the role of the financial head of the company on 1 January, intending to help the firm advance its growth and development strategies.
The gaming conglomerate is a Canadian industry powerhouse, operating 26 land-based casinos across British Columbia, Ontario, and Alberta. The company offers a total of 12,971 slot machines, 902 bingo seats, 365 table games, and 79 food and drinks facilities, while employing over 6,500 individuals.
Queenie Wong is a familiar face at Gateway Casinos & Entertainment, being part of the team since 2011. Over the years, she has served in key finance roles, including chief accounting officer and senior vice-president of finance. During her time at the company, Wong proactively contributed to corporate success by collaborating closely with internal finance and accounting teams.
Over the last decade, Wong played a significant part in numerous strategic growth transactions, including the acquirement of Playtime Gaming, which gave the company six additional gaming properties. Wong was also crucial to the company’s expansion into Ontario, where the firm now operates 12 venues.
Tony Santo, chief executive officer of Gateway Casinos & Entertainment, noted that Wong’s leadership had been a crucial factor in facilitating the company’s growth across its venue portfolio and new projects. Santo also praised Wong for her contribution to pursuing the company’s recovery goals put in place due to the ongoing pandemic.
Before arriving at the gaming conglomerate, Wong worked in the audit and assurance department at PwC. Now, as Gateway Casinos & Entertainment’s chief financial officer, she will be reporting directly to Tony Santo. Wong’s appointment is subject to regulatory approvals from the company.
