Gateway Casinos and Entertainment remains optimistic regarding the reopening of its Casino Rama venue by the end of January.
Gateway Casinos and Entertainment expressed optimism regarding the renewal of operations at its Casino Rama gaming hotspot by the end of January. The company is eager to welcome back its guests, which is directly linked to the lifting of the latest lockdown.
Casino Rama closed its doors on 5 January, following Ontario’s move into a modified Step Two of The Business Reopening sequence. According to the latest lockdown rules, all indoor activities such as restaurants, casinos, and gyms must close. The new order is set to expire on 26 January.
Hoping for a Reopening
In this week’s press release, Gateway Casinos and Entertainment spokesman, Rob Mitchell, noted that the company had outlined 27 January as a potential reopening date for Casino Rama. On that day, the provincial lockdown is scheduled to be lifted. However, this could be subject to change, and the restrictions could be extended further.
Mitchell reassured that the gambling conglomerate is optimistic about the businesses restart at the end of the month. Mitchell is also hopeful that the government can successfully distribute COVID-19 booster shots and decrease the number of infection cases across the province.
The recent shutdown has come as another knock for the company’s plans, following its November announcement to restore operations following almost two years of Casino Rama being shut down. Gateway Casinos and Entertainment has even announced several riveting live shows for patrons to enjoy. Regretfully, these plans have now been put on hold.
In November, Glenn Trickey, the vice-president of operations at Gateway Casinos and Entertainment, explained that the reopening of the 5,000-seater entertainment venue and a buffet would guarantee a visitor increase. This would have subsequently also paved the way for approximately 200 former employees returning to the site. However, the casino has recently announced that it will be postponing all events to a later date.
