September saw the launch of the province of Alberta’s first regulated online sports betting programme.
There has been ground-breaking news coming out of Alberta’s gaming industry, with the Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) launching its first fully regulated sports betting platform in the province. The launch was made possible due to the Commissions collaboration with NeoPollard Interactive and Sporting Solutions.
Local gamblers and sports betting fans now have access to offerings on the province’s sole regulated web portal, PlayAlberta.ca. After signing up for an account, the user can place wagers on various fan-favourite sports such as the NHL, NBA, MLB, NFL, NCAA football, and even soccer.
First Regulated Online Sportsbook in Alberta
Acting President and Chief Executive Officer of the Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis Commission, Kandice Machado, stated that the commission intends to find new ways of improving its online platform. According to her, the addition of sports wagering will offer players an even greater variety. Machado explained that the latest sports betting service is provided in a safe and regulated gaming environment.
Alberta’s newest sports betting offering is made available through NeoPollard Interactive’s state-of-the-art NeoSphere iLottery Technology and the Advanced Betting Platform from Sporting Solutions. The latter is a prominent business-to-business sports wagering service provider that currently collaborates with gaming operators globally.
