Three Ontario friends have received a pre-Festive Season gift to remember when they collectively won a CA$21-million jackpot.
Things are looking up for three long-time friends from Ontario after their joint ticket won them a substantial Lotto 6/49 grand prize. Dino Martino, Bill Tepelenas, and Kenneth Nitsotolis bought a Lotto 6/49 ticket for a draw on 22 September, and they are now delighted that they did so.
Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide game that awards hundreds of millions of dollars to lucky players each year. The game’s main prize is often worth several million, and each draw guarantees a CA$1 million prize to one lucky player from anywhere in the country. Entry tickets are drawn each Wednesday and Saturday.
Jackpot Split Three-way
OLG confirmed that the Toronto troika won a jackpot worth over CA$21 million. The trio’s winning ticket was drawn during the 22 September Lotto 6/49 draw and was purchased online via the OLG website. The exact value of the jackpot is CA$21,185,218 and came as a pleasant surprise after the men played together for the past 16 years.
Nitsotolis was the first one to discover the team’s lottery win. As he explained, he checked his emails one morning and saw confetti on the screen. He explained that he initially thought the winning amount was CA$21,000 and had to rub his eyes when he saw a figure with so many zeros.
After realising that the winning amount was a staggering CA$21 million, Nitsotolis instantaneously called the other two ticket holders and delivered them the good news. While claiming their cheque, the trio stated that they hadn’t yet come up with a plan for spending their enormous prize, but they would undoubtedly find a way.
OLG also confirmed that Tuesday’s draw for the other popular Canadian game, Lotto Max, didn’t determine a jackpot winner. During the 23 November draw, the prize stood at a sizeable CA$22 million, but no one won it. The next draw will take place on Friday, 26 November, with a jackpot of CA$27 million up for grabs.
