The recent draw of Lotto 6/49 in Ontario yielded a winner, with a lucky player from Kingston becoming the region’s latest lottery millionaire.
Ronald Lloyd, a diehard lottery player from Kingston, Ontario, is the latest lottery millionaire in the province, bagging in an astonishing CA$2 million main prize in the Ontario 49 draw. The Ontario 49 remains one of the most popular lottery games offered by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLGC). The competition targets local players from Ontario and is a popular alternative to the much-loved Lotto 6/49 draw.
Ontario 49
September 8 will forever be remembered as a special day for Ronald Lloyd, as this was the day when lady luck looked down upon him. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation was looking for the winner, and once Lloyd realised the lucky ticket was in his possession, he excitedly contacted Crown corporation. Lloyd said that he has been playing the lottery for decades, always believing that the main prize could make its way to his pocket one day.
Lloyd was in the process of purchasing a new lottery ticket for an upcoming draw when he realised that the coupon he already had carried the winning combination. According to Lloyd, he first thought that he was eligible for CA$2,000. Upon further inspection, he realised that the prize was, in fact, CA$2 million.
Naturally, Lloyd needed some time to process the great news, and he double-checked the winning ticket several times when he got back home. He then contacted the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation to notify them and arrange a ceremony at the OLGC Prize Centre in Toronto.
Sizeable Prize
Once Lloyd disclosed the news about his big win to his grandchildren, they too could not believe their eyes when they saw the ticket. Lloyd purchased the winning ticket at the Canadian Tire Gas Bar on Kingston’s Princess Street. The lucky winner has disclosed that he will share the prize money between himself and his immediate family. A purchase of a new vehicle is also on the cards.
