The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has partnered with the National Basketball League to offer more sports betting options.

The National Basketball League (NBA) has become the latest partner of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission (OLG). The gaming provider’s sports betting brand, PROLINE, will become the official betting partner of the basketball league, allowing locals to wager legally on the NBA Draft for the first time.

OLG is a provincial agency that provides safe and regulated sports betting, gambling, and lottery services across Ontario in both online and retail forms. The corporation also oversees bingo at charitable gaming centres. The Crown corporation’s earnings are reinvested into the province and have generated over CA$55 billion in revenue for the local economy since 1975.

Thanks to the agreement, users of PROLINE can now wager on the 2022 NBA Draft through a safe and regulated system. The draft took place on 23 June 2022 and was broadcast on TSN and Sportsnet. The agreement between the league and the Crown corporation is another example of their fruitful relationship.

Additionally, through the new partnership, OLG and NBA will commit to creating unique user experiences on the OLG’s online PROLINE+ sportsbook and its retail one, PROLINE. The land-based version of the sportsbook is available at approximately 10,000 Ontario locations. As part of the deal, the OLG will utilise NBA betting data and incorporate official league logos.

Chief digital and strategy officer at OLG, Dave Pridmore, commented that the deepening partnership with the NBA will help OLG provide new betting options for its basketball fans. Pridmore also noted that the company is excited to offer betting on the NBA Draft for the first time while giving bettors more exclusive content.

Kuljeet Sindhar, NBA associate vice president for international gaming and data ventures, said that the latest arrangement with OLG is proof that the league values the long-term partnership with the Ontario regulator. Sindhar added that the NBA is delighted to extend its collaboration with OLG to further revolutionise the fan experience as part of Ontario’s new era of sports betting.
